The History and Foundation of Style

The style was founded after a group of 5 students requested help with their School Class Project.  The students wanted to teach the rest of the class self defense tactics.  They requested help and began to learn basic take-downs, hold breaks and counter-attacks.  Upon completion of the project several of the students showed interest in continuing to learn.

Thus, San Fang Shi (3 style form) was founded.

 San Fang Shi is based on 5 animal styles of Kung-Fu.

• Tiger  (Majority of Style)
• Mantis (Seven Stars)
• Crane (Balance and Agility)
• Eagle (Chi-Na)
• Snake (Taught to only highest of students)

San Fang Shi is designed for the student to achieve Black Sash (Belt) Level in 5-7 years depending on the students ability and effort each individual exerts into learning the style. Sashes (Belts) are awarded as each student successfully completes each animal style and/or shows the characteristics and disciplines needed to be a respected Kung-Fu student. (No testing Except for White Sash). Sash colors are as follows:

1. Beginner (1-2 Months) Need to pass test to achieve White Sash.
2. WHITE SASH
3. GREEN SASH
4. BLUE SASH
5. GRAY SASH
6. GOLD SASH
7. BLACK SASH--(Black Belt Probation Period---Equal to Black Belt)
8. RED SASH--(Instructor Level)
